Queen's Park Bat Walk
May 1st 2008

Count Bat is Back
Forty people booked onto this bat walk.
They were greeted by a smiling Paul Wheatley who got people to sign in.

He is smiling because he had wound up the bat group by saying there were 68 people due.
We met in the newly refurbished Neighbourhood Centre.
People had a chance to look at some displays and to meet a live bat which was on short term care having been found very underweight. She has since been successfully returned to where she was found

We then the evening with a brief Powerpoint talk on bats

After which we went outside to see what we could find. Thanks to the Count Bat ptoject we had ten duet recorders and Diana Hagues, the new Count Bat Officer brought another ten with her so there plenty of detectors to go round
What was great from our point of view is that the walk was lead by Kelly and lizzie who joined the bat group during last year's Count BAt Project in Queen's Park
We heard more pipistrelles on out way down to the river , which like last time was teeming with bats. It was a bit breezy so we didn't spot as many daubenton's over the water as we might have hoped, but a good time was had by all.

Diana Hagues brought the new bookmarks with her and gave out Count Bat badges at the end of the evening.
