Barbastelles , Natterjack Toads and a partial eclipse

Photo Tim Crapnell

Last night was 50 years since Man landed on the moon.. It was also a partial eclipse and for once the Moon was not obscured by clouds. The bat group used  the moonlight  to do another survey at Sandy Warren. There were fewer pips and Noctule than last time, but the Natterjack Toads were in  fine and very loud voice. There were also numerous barbastelle passes heard  the detectors  and a few even flew into sight. A really fun survey
