Bechstein’s Project round 3 Day 3

After another busy day checking the results from the previous night. more bat group members headed off to another wood. This was the most demanding physically as the wood was on a steep slope, so lugging the equipment was a particular challenge. We caught 3 common pipistrelles a soprano pipistrelle and a brown long eared. Some of the group walked a transect and also recorded a barbastelle which was the first time it had been heard in this part of the wood

The photo of the  juvenile Brown long eared below shows that they are less cute once they close their eyes! This was a lovely bat, but we did not want to keep taking his photo and quickly released him
