Pipistrelles in Luton

We recently had an enquiry passed to us by the Wildlife Trust from a gentleman who had spotted bats flying close to his house in LutonĀ  and asking if any one could help to identify what they were. Viv and Malcolm went armed with bat detectors ( there is no way you can distinguish between common and soprano pisĀ  by flight pattern alone) and had a look and were able to identify them as common pipistrelles. As far as they could tell they were not roosting in the gentleman’s house.

We aren’t always able to do visits like this, but last week was a quiet week – but we start trapping again on Friday
