{"id":2241,"date":"2011-08-17T13:12:19","date_gmt":"2011-08-17T13:12:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/batsinbeds.wordpress.com\/?page_id=2241"},"modified":"2012-04-18T12:46:05","modified_gmt":"2012-04-18T12:46:05","slug":"count-bat","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.bedsbatgroup.org.uk\/wordpress\/?page_id=2241","title":{"rendered":"Count Bat 2007"},"content":{"rendered":"<h5>Created Jan 2008<br \/>\nUpdated April 2012<\/h5>\n<p>In <span style=\"color: #993300;\">2006<\/span> the Bat Conservation Trust ran three pilot projects for its Count Bat initiative.<\/p>\n<p>In October 2006, the Bedfordshire Bat group was offered the chance to host a pilot project in 2007.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bedsbatgroup.org.uk\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/count-bat-logo.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-2411\" title=\"count bat logo\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bedsbatgroup.org.uk\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/count-bat-logo.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"132\" height=\"192\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><span style=\"color: #993300;\">2007 Pilot Project<\/span><br \/>\nThe project ran for six months with the aim of involving communities which were not traditionally involved in bat groups.We hoped that if this project was successful we would be able to attract funding for further work. A dozen people attended this training and went on to help with bats walks in May and June<br \/>\n__________________________________________________________________<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><span style=\"color: #993300;\">Friday 4th 2007 May 2007 &#8211; Bat Walk<\/span><br \/>\nAn evening of food followed by a guided bat walk around Queen&#8217;s Park at dusk to look for bats with bat detectors . This is when we started our collection\u00a0 of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bedsbatgroup.org.uk\/wordpress\/?page_id=574\">bat folktales<\/a><\/p>\n<p>__________________________________________________________________<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"color: #993300;\">Queen&#8217;s Park Family Day Friday July 27th 1pm-3pm<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">This was an additional event we tended having been invited by the Queen&#8217;s Park Street Ranger, Paul Wheatley.<\/span> Mark manned the stall for this event. It was attended by 12 people, including some who had joined us during the Count Bat Project and a number of others that we met for the first time. It was held at Priory and two of the Priory rangers attended. After a theory session we headed out to try our new \u00a0 the lake at Priory. As well as both pipistrelles, Noctule and Daubenton&#8217;s we also we picked up Nathusius&#8217; pipistrelle &#8211; a real rarity in these parts.
