The bats were coming out for an hour and a half before bad light meant we had no hope of seeing any more. Counting was made difficult as often several emerge at almost the same instant . It’s hard to keep an accurate count when you are fending off blood thirsty midges, but at least there was no shortage of\u00a0 bat food.<\/p>\n
The noise was very loud tonight- presumably the young are getting more vocal., or maybe they were all laughing at the humans being bitten to ribbons<\/p>\n
We now wait to see if the next survey in a fortnight’s time will have\u00a0 even more emerging bats. (Sogs is convinced numbers will peak then as she is away on holiday)<\/p>\n
We are obviously not alone in failing to love small bitey creatures. This\u00a0 just came onto\u00a0 Jude’s Facebook page, originally posted by the Glossop bat group<\/p>\n
