July 2018

Steph and Arron have filled in some very useful gaps in the map in the past week

A walk around Willingham

and a couple of driven transects

Jude Bob Hedj and Kei visited Woburn Safari Park  to confirm a roost, and whiloele we were there, we set up some Peersonics

.Lots of barbastelle activity

Big bats and BLEs

Common pips

Soprano pips

Bob has produced some more tetrad maps showing our  latest progress.

The good weather continues, so Bob does some more car transects

With the good weather Bob and I did some more car transects into the tetrads with no bat records

3rd July. Another river survey. Note that there are some areas devoid of bats – these were windy and bats chose to feed elsewhere.

Having caught up with sonograms,Jude and Bob treated themselves to a drive in South Beds

Coming soon

Chris Lambert is thinking about doing some driven surveys along North Beds green lanes in his land rover once they are open again. At the moment they are closed because they are very muddy

May 2018

The first canoe survey this season gave lots of records of bats

Bob and John made another trip to Pegnut Wood. They used two detectors set at  different thresholds.

The Studham survey on 9th May organised by Dick and Geraldine yielded these records.

Bob drove to the survey and made a recording on his drive home

John Day led the first Sandy survey of the year on Tuesday 8th May

The static detector at the Gatehouse yielded some fascinating data, only a couple of pip records but wall to wall, Serotines, Noctules and big bats which we coulDn’t identify to species. There was also a single Nathusius pass

Steve Plummer  has been looking for bats south of Cranfield

He also set up a static detector in his garden and recorded a barbastelle and a total of five species.
