This is the first time we have checked the boxes in April and it coincided with a visit from a Canadian bat worker who is in England for a month. Bob and Jude met her in Nicaragua and jumped at the chance to catch up.

Melissa was keen to see how a box survey worked and Bob as happy to show her the ropes and the ladder.

Melissa learnt a lot about bat boxes, and we learnt that what we call a woodlouse is a potato bug in Canada

As for bats we did find some – 11 brown long eared so she was able to have herĀ  close encounter with a bat in the wild
