Last night a number of us attended  a  Zoom meeting with University of Sussex’ PhD student  Keiran O’Malley who is researching the monitoring of woodlands for the presence of barbastelle maternity colonies.on the monitoring of woodlands for the presence of barbastelle maternity colonies. ( see https://www.vwt.org.uk/blog/a-team-effort-searching-for-the-elusive-barbastelle/)

He has a mammoth task surveying 200 woods in four regions of England. The logistics are mindboggling, rather him than me.

We have helped out so far by contacting number of local wood owners we have had contact with in the past. We were very pleased that they have all given their permission. We will also be helping with the surveys.

The project is running from May to the end of August. We will keep you informed. There will be more info on the Vincent Weir Trust’s website.
