The night it wasn’t really cold

but it was windy and gusty in places, This meant the bats concentrated in sheltered spots at Sandy Warren. This meant it was easier to find bats and we heard more species ,not just comnon and soprano pips but also  barbastelles, serotines and myotis sp.

We didn’t pick up any noctules, but on listening to the recordings we made on a static detector we discovered they had been feeding on the gatehouse lawn. We still have finish analysing calls we made while walking round, so there could be other species.

A real bonus was being serenaded by the  resident natterjack toads
