Over the last two years we haven’t done hibernation surveys because of covid. this year we went ahead with dividing sites into smaller numbers, of experienced people checking them We followed covid restrictions to the letter, wearing masks and gloves, using hand sanitizer between sites and didn’t have any rowdy parties
Any bat which was unidentifiable was simply counted as bat sp.
The bats took pity on us and generally made sure that taxonomic factors were in clear sight
The end result 254 bats found. The largest number we’ve ever found.
