First Harrold Odell survey – a success

Photo Nicky Monsey

After a break of several years we finally got back to survey Harrold Odell. It was worth the wait.Natasha says

“Managed to do a walked survey at HOCP Friday as the weather thankfully played ball this week. Lots of soprano as expected but also lots of common pipistrelles and noctules. One myotis; likely Daubenton’s although didn’t manage to see it sadly. One Serotine call

Pipistrelles were seen foraging in the clearings within the Nature Reserve and lovely viewing of a noctule foraging over the strip of grassland between the cafe and Grebe Lake at the end of the survey.

We also had a very loud cuckoo at the start of the survey which was lovely”
