Why are good bat sites like buses?

You wait for ages and several come all at once.

So far this season, we have identified no less than five new sites which have proved very promising. We spent much of the season so far using static detectors to compile an initial species list. This involved analysing 30,000 sonograms. This has included a number of rarer species including Barbastelles, Serotines, Nathusius’ Pip and Leisler’s. We have a number of Myotis which will need trapping to identify/confirm the species.

June was very kind to us but July has led us to have to cancel several surveys which will help us identify trapping sites.

Fingers crossed that the weather will be kinder.
