Courts Ladies Luncheon Club

Photo Jude Hirstwood

Yesterday the Noctule was invited to lunch when we were invited to speak to the Court Ladies Luncheon Club.  On arrival we drove down a passage next to the Old Courthouse and got wildly distracted by a wooden building which had ” bat home” written all over it that lay nestled at the edge of a piece of woodland. Resisting the urge to explore we headed in through the rain  to give the talk. They gave me lunch I was all set to refuse pudding when they produced home made meringue.  which meant I had to be careful I did not doze off during my talk. At the end we gave the ladies a chance to meet the Noctule. The responses varied from absolute enchantment to deep suspicion but as always the bat behaved impeccably , but decided that the rain outside meant she  should be entitled to extra mealworms when we fed her last night.
