In November I did a talk for Luton NCS about bats. Since then they have been busy making bat boxes and organising an event at Stockwood Discovery Centre.
You can see pictures of the event at https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.408386312563929.89503.238057479596814&type=1
They raised £55 for the Bat Group from making bat boxes, but they did much more besides – face painting, word searches for children of different ages, a Treasure Hunt, as well as selling some of the bat boxes they had made and some of the group went that final mile and donned bat costumes and face paint.
Some of the boxes will go up in the wildlife garden at Stockwood Discovery Centre.
We’d like to thank them for all their hard work. It is quite unusual for us to get a chance to work with this age group – all we did was the talk at the beginning, give them diagrams for the bat boxes and lend them our display.
Thanks to Caroline Frith for inviting us to have a minor part in this project and to all of Team Topaz who put in so much enthusiasm to the project.
The uncredited photos were taken by members of Team Topaz. Let me know who took the pictures and I will acknowledge you.
