Bat care masterclass

While others were out harp trapping last night, Hedj Kel and Sogs met with Rhona to get some training on coping with juveniles. It was a really relaxed evening with much exchange of information., and a lot of laughter Rhona has been caring for bats for many years (she was very young when she started).

Sogs had bought her charges with her and some of the evening was spent admiring them Rhona gave advice on the Noctule when she first came into care.

Now the Noctule is a glossy beast thanks to Starflower oil. Rhona described Noctules as “Furry Mars Bars” which we rather liked.

All too soon she will have to practice flying so we need to find her a space to fly in. The hunt is on!

Meanwhile Kel and Hedj have built a really good relationship with Acorn Vets in Bedford, who have been really helpful for which many thanks

PS we are still not abe to be 100% sure what one of the juveniles is – probably a pip but….

We were so busy having fun we almost forgot to eat the cake!
