We’ve been getting into the swing of the bat season in the past week , What has been really pleasing is that more people are coming out to help and even better we have had a number of new keen members who have been joining us.
LAKESIDE
On Wednesday 30th we had a full complement of bat group observers who were rewarded by 30 soprano pipistrelles leaving the roost, Also heard were a lot of common and sopranos and noctules were heard for the first time.
STOCKGROVE
12 people came out half of which were new to the survey. on May 1 s t there were brown long eareds and pipistrelles in bat boxes and both Daubenton’s and Noctules flying ,
People got good view of bats
SANDY WARREN
On May 2nd was quiet, Hardly surprising as it was a cold night (a chilly 3 degrees) A natterjack toad was heard and the group was joined by a feisty kitten who was not to be discouraged. Soprano and common pipistrelle were heard and on the recording that was made, a Myotis was heard, On a good night we get 7 or 8 species but bats are not stupid and stayed hunkered down unlike bat group members
