BBC News and many other media outlets have reported on the long term difficulty that St Hilda’s Church Ellerburn has been having with their bats. They are now applying for an exclusion licence – though it is easier said than done to exclude bats from a church. The North Yorks bat group has been working to try to overcome this problem for many years. You can read their account of the problem here
We have been lucky that the one church that had to close because of bat activity found that the advice given to them by Natural England and the bat group worked and we were able to build an excellent working relationship with the church warden – not difficult because they were a delight.
