Harrold Odell Country Park

Once again it wasn’t the best weather to be out last night  but some folk did venture out Kel reports below.

“Thanks to the 3  other bat group members who braved getting soggy ( as in “wet” not as in “Soggy the Lakeside Survey co-ordninator”) this evening  and Aidan’s brave guest. There was plenty of soprano pips flying around the woodland area opposite  the skate park. Not so many commuting along the hedge, but a lot feeding around the bus shelter. In fact they were feeding quite low and one even went under Hedj’s brolly, did a lap then flew out. Nothing exciting to report apart from the mad monks have moved again, don’t blink. Anyone who doesn’t know whatIi’m going on about, have a stroll down the bridle path to the wood carvers area.”

Hedj has just sent me this picture of a serotine in flight which he took on the last  Harrold Odell survey. Given the speed at which these bats fly I am dead impressed
