The weather did it again. Lia drove up from Bristol with all the equipment and then the rain came in. The first wood we went to is usually very busy but the gusting wind meant there were very few insects about and hardly any bats. Because of the time of year the harp traps were checked every ten minutes in case we caught a pregnant female. As one of the traps was nearly five minutes fro the processing point, this kept us fully occupied but we did find time to eat biscuits.
We caught three bats a brown long eared, a common pipistrele and a Daubenton’s which is the first time we have ever caught one at this frequently surveyed site
On Saturday night the rain was so wet that the harp traps were never even st up. We waited in the car for the rain to stop, but of course it didn’t
This has been a frustrating weekend, but North Bucks had more luck catching a Bechstein’s on a survey they did in a wood known to have them. You can see the film Toby tok at .http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oJjkkggwR6A&feature=youtu.be
