Driving over to the Lakeside survey on a fine evening we noticed an ominous grey cloud in the distance. Yes you guessed it, it was raining at the Lakeside Survey site. Some of us are natural pessimists and had brought wet weather gear, but some of us were foolishly optomistic and tried to shelter out of the worst of the rain.
It was a good night for bats with numerous insects about (many of which were very bitey) We counted 1178 bats out before it finally got too dark to see any more emergences. There was a lot of noise in the roost tonight – there are a lot of pups in there.
