“It was a surprisingly quiet night on the bat front last night despite it being a beautiful warm evening. Only box 10 had a resident, a solitary Soprano who left the roost at 21.24, 18 minutes after sunset. There were a couple of Sopranos
flying in Bakers Wood and the pine plantation but on the whole numbers were quite low. 9.19pm saw the first sighting of a Noctule over the lake but even they didn’t stay for long. The Daubentons first appeared at 9.30 and gave a good account of itself swooping and feeding over the lake, and 23 passes through the torch light.
