Well sadly last night was the last Stockgrove Bat Survey of 2013. As expected the bat activity was low, all tree and box roosts were empty, even the Daubentons count over the lake was nil – obviously the bats are making their way to their winter retreats. There was some flying activity, 6.52 a Soprano Pip near T7, and again near T6 at 7.02. A common pip was heard near T5 at 7.10. Both common and Soprano pips were heard along the path from T5 heading past the lake towards the pines – there was also a Myotis at 7.15 as we approached the boat house. Daubentons were heard near the boat house at 7.16 and a solitary distant Noctule call at 7.19 again whilst we were at the boat house. A Soprano pip was seen flying over the lake and around the boat house and feeding.

Thank you to all those who joined us last night and also to each and every one of you who has supported us over the year, your support is greatly appreciated and hopefully you will all join us again in 2014…
