White lined vampires in Trinidad,

Photo Bob Cornes

Regular readers may have noticed that the blog went quiet for a bit there. Four of us headed off to Trinidad on another Trinibats adventure – of which doubtless more later. In the meantime, Daniel Hargreaves managed to get some amazing film of  white winged vampires (Diaemus youngi) inside a silk cotton tree This footage is all the impressive when you realise he filmed it balancing on a precarious pile of guano, and with us heckling him from outside. Higher up the tree were a number of Phyllostomus hastatus
